ELTON — The Elton High softball and baseball teams welcomed the Singer High teams and celebrated senior night in a unique doubleheader at Coushatta Field at the Coushatta Tribal Reservation on Monday, with a temporary fence set up for the girls’ game.
The Lake Arthur High Tigers baseball and Lady Tigers softball teams welcomed opponents from Midland High. The Tiger claimed victory over the Rebels, 11-0, while the Lady Tigers fell to the Lady Rebels by a slim margin, 9-10.
The Welsh High Greyhounds are on a six-game winning streak after beating the Grant High Cougars 12-4. The night prior, they defeated the Notre Dame Pioneers 5-4. More impressively, the Hounds have only lost one game in the last 19 contests when they fell to the Lafayette Christian Academy Knights.
The Jennings High Diamond Dogs hit the road over the weekend to take on the Church Point Battlin Bears. The Bulldogs put up a good fight but fell to the Bears, 0-10.
WELSH — Baseball fans were treated to a classic Thursday evening when the Welsh Greyhounds hosted the Notre Dame Pioneers at Sportsman Park. Notre Dame took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, and Welsh tied it 1-1 in the third. Welsh would take a 5-1 lead in the fifth, and Notre Dame would score a run in the sixth. In the seventh inning, Notre Dame would score two runs to make it a 5-4 game. With two outs and a runner on third, the Pioneers would ground out to give Welsh a 5-4 win.
The Jennings High School Bulldog tennis team recently took on district rival, St. Louis Saints, at the courts of JHS, taking five of 11 matches.
The Jennings Diamond Dogs, coming off a twogame winning streak that included a 12-1 victory over LCCP in their first district game of the season, were pitted against the Golden Knights of South Beauregard High School Thursday night at Danny Reed Field in Jennings.
