4-H SUMMER NEWS

When we traveled to Alabama for a Fourth of July celebration with family, we saw nothing but rain. It rained for six hours and 300 miles on the way there; it rained for two days while we were there; and it continued to rain for six hours and 300 miles as we returned home.

Knights of Columbus Council 2012 honored a few of their members during the monthly meeting. Debbie and Mason LeJeune were awarded KC Family of the Month, while Grand Knight Tommy Dennis highlighted Carl Benoit for KC Knight of the Month.

Jeff Davis Cattlemen’s Association presented a check for $6,000 to the Jeff Davis Parish School Board on Thursday as a $1,000 gift for each of the six parish high school FFA chapters. This is the third year the association has given money to the schools to support their agriculture programs.

As I veered onto I-10 in Tallahassee for the final leg of my journey home after four hours on various other highways, I said to myself, “I’m driving like Uncle Willie.”
