GOTTS COVE — An area man was arrested this week after deputies discovered narcotics and weapons in a home while on an assistance call.
Jeff Davis Parish recently welcomed Jeanne Boudreaux as the new Chamber of Commerce director, completing a trifecta of new female directors including Tourism Director Carter Prejean and Economic Development Director Cesilee Oliver. WELSH — Welsh town officials announced Wednesday afternoon that the boil order for residents had been lifted. The advisory was put in place after water to the town had to be shut off to make repairs to a main water line after a leak was detected earlier this week. No contaminants were present in the water supply and residents can continue to use the tap water without precautions.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced full intermittent lane closures on both the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-10 between La. 102 and La. 26 from 6-10 a.m. on Saturday, July 26. The closures are necessary to allow crews to perform utility work.
The LSU Agricultural Center for Jeff Davis Parish recently achieved a fully staifed office with the hiring of Welsh native Hallie Ardoin as the new Nutrition and Community Health Agent. Ardoin will focus much of her time working in nutritional and health education.
Registration to join Chip Off the Old Block Youth Theatre is currently underway for any area youth who may be dreaming of performing on stage. The classes have been divided into three separate age groups, including CHIPS Littles for students in grades third through fifth, CHIPS Middles for junior high grades sixth, seventh and eighth and CHIPS High School for freshmen through seniors.
