Local Miss and Debutante Miss Jennings Valentine Queens Charlotte Lafargue and Adilynn Hargrave recently paid a visit to a local senior assisted living center where they passed out candy to residents. The girls said they enjoyed their time visiting with senior residents so much, they can’t wait for another opportunity to visit again soon and share more holiday cheer.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — President Donald Trump says he sent a letter to Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, a development that was not immediately confirmed by the supreme leader. Trump made the comments in an interview aired on Friday by Fox Business News. He later told reporters in the Oval Office, 'Something’s going to happen very soon” and said he wanted to negotiate a nuclear deal with Iran. Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency reported Trump’s comments, citing the broadcast. However, there was no immediate word from the office.

The late veteran and Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery Director Dwayne Guidry was laid to rest this week in the cemetery that meant so much to him. Surrounded by family, friends and fellow veterans, Guidry was given a full military funeral. He was the epitome of what it means to selflessly sacrifice for the freedom of this country and serve others with unwavering dedication. Guidry’s military career spanned 26 years of service, in which he served in the Louisiana Army National Guard and in active duty with the Army, taking part in three combat tours.
