LAKE ARTHUR — The Lake Arthur Police Department and Jeff Davis Parish Library are working together to ensure the library is a safe place for the community after unsavory characters took advantage of the building.

A crowd gathered from across the region at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery to adorn the gravestones of our country’s heroes. Every year, Wreaths Across America receives donations of fresh Christmas wreaths to be set in front of veteran gravestones in cemeteries across the nation and Normandy. The movement started in 2004 when a picture showed thousands of wreaths adorning the oldest graves stones at Arlington cemetery.
COUNTRY CHRISTMAS ON THE LAKE
The community of Welsh came together on Saturday to turn the downtown area into a winter wonderland. A parade kicked off the night with many floats throwing candy, trinkets and other fun surprises to eager residents.
The Town of Elton hosted its annual Christmas festival over the weekend, complete with a parade down Main Street. Town officials, area royalty and local businesses, along with the Basile High and Welsh High school marching bands shared their Christmas spirit in celebration of the upcoming holiday.
Crowds gathered in historic downtown Jennings for the annual Christmas parade on Friday. Various organizations, businesses, officials and residents decorated cars, floats, tractors, side by sides and vehicles with lights and festive decorations, much to the delight of attendees.
The City of Jennings and the Jennings Fire Department provided a spectacular pyrotechnic show from the Jennings Airport. As a holiday tradition, fireworks are set off each year following the Christmas parade.
