BATON ROUGE – No. 21 LSU (19-7) will have a quick turnaround as they host its first midweek of the 2022 season by welcoming Southeastern Louisiana (14-7) to Tiger Park at 6 p.m. CT Tuesday, March 15. Tuesday’s game will be streamed on SECN+.
The Jennings Bulldogs ran into a buzzsaw on the mound Thursday night, as Britt Cope and the Rayne Wolves bested the Dogs by a final of 6-1 at Danny Reed Field. Cope tossed a complete game 3-hitter to send the Dogs to their third straight defeat. The loss dropped the Dogs to 3-7 overall on the season, and they were back in action at home on Saturday when they welcomed in 5A power Southside High School for a 1:30 pm contest. The Dogs got off to a quick start by picking up a run in the top of the first inning, but it was all Cope after that. The big righty fanned 12 Jennings hitters over the final six frames, and Rayne scored runs in the second, third, sixth and seventh innings to earn the win. Seth Benoit was the tough-luck losing pitcher for Jennings, as he allowed four runs, with none being earned, and struck out seven on only three hits through five innings. The Bulldogs made six errors in the contest that helped Rayne score the bulk of their runs. Jennings was also able to only muster three hits off of Cope in the contest.
LAKE ARTHUR – The Lake Arthur Tigers got out to a quick start in Thursday’s home contest against the Kaplan Pirates, however the guests rallied in the later innings to claim an 8-4 non-district tilt. With the ball game knotted at 4-4 going into the top of the sixth frame, Kaplan pushed across three runs in the inning and another in the seventh to earn the victory. The loss drops the Tigers to 5-3 on the season, and they were scheduled to be back in action Friday when they took on Gueydan and Saturday against Grace Christian.

The Jennings Bulldogs dropped a heartbreaker to the New Iberia Yellow Jackets Wednesday afternoon at Danny Reed Field by a final of 3-2 on a chilly afternoon. The two teams locked into a pitchers duel, however the Jackets were able to take advantage of four Jennings errors to walk away with the one-run win. Senior Devin Polk tossed 5 dazzling innings for the Dogs, giving up three runs, only one earned, and allowed only three hits and struck out 12 batters. Ethan Jardell came out of the bullpen and hurled two scoreless frames, and didn’t allow a hit and fanned three.
