HOUSTON (AP) — Lance McCullers knew there was a “less than 1%” chance that he would be able to pitch in the World Series for the Houston Astros because of a forearm strain. The righthander waited as long as possible, and didn’t beat those odds.
SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks will be without starting guard Damien Lewis and pass rusher Darrell Taylor against the New Orleans Saints.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Rams were trailing 10-0 midway through the first quarter before Matthew Stafford even got to touch the ball Sunday in his reunion game with the Detroit Lions.
Lake Charles College Prep (LCCP) Trailblazers showed their speed and athleticism here at Cougar Stadium Thursday night, as they raced out to a 60-35 win over the Jennings Bulldogs in 4-3A action. The Blazers rolled up over 500 yards of total offense in the win, and used a huge second quarter to break open a close contest. LCCP now sits atop then district 4-3A standings with Iowa, with a crash course coming next week between the two powerhouses.
JONESBORO, ARK. (AP) — Freshman Montrell Johnson took a handoff 99 yards for a school and Sun Belt Conference recordlong touchdown, Chris Smith rushed for 238 yards and the game-winner and Louisiana-Lafayette battled past Arkansas State 28-27 on Thursday night.

BOSTON (AP) — Following two weak performances at the plate, the Boston Red Sox now turn to Nathan Eovaldi to try to save their season on just two days’ rest.
After much confusion on the part of Lake Charles College Prep about securing a playing field and a date for when this week’s district 4-3A match-up against the Jennings Bulldogs would take place, the final decision was made to play the game Thursday night at Cougar Stadium at 7 pm. The contest will be one of the most intriguing in the area because of the missed contest last season, and the amount of star power on the field. The Trailblazers came in with high hopes on winning another district 4-3A title, but got off to a rough start in non-district play, albeit a tumultuous schedule. The Blazers are loaded with talent all over the field, but will be without LSU running back commit Travonte Citizen due to an injury. Despite losing Citizen, Prep has a plethora of backs in Devonte Guidroz and JaRell Joseph to shoulder the load. The duo rushed for over 240 yards combined in a tough win over the St. Louis Saints a week ago.
