LAKE ARTHUR — The Lake Arthur brand of Tigers proved to be the best cats on this night, as they used a strong rushing attack and a stout defense to shut out the DeQuincy brand of Tigers by a final score of 42-0. Lake Arthur moves to 2-0 for the season with the victory.

VINTON — After coming off a 55-7 dismantling of the Basile Bearcats, the 1-0 Elton Indians set their sights on the powerful 1-0 Vinton Lions Friday night, but the Indians fell to the Lions by a score of 40-12.

WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds used a suffocating defense and a balanced offensive attack to shut out the Opelousas Catholic Vikings by a 42-0 score here Friday night in non-district action. The red and black defense limited the visitors to 74 yards rushing and just 25 passing for a total of 99 yards for the night. Meanwhile, the Greyhound front line dominated the line of scrimmage as they opened holes that allowed the hosts to rush for 298 yards and add another 182 through the air.

EUNICE — In a game of “you don’t like us, we don’t like you”, the Jennings Bulldogs were edged out by the Eunice Bobcats in a battle that went down to the final minute of play, by a score of 15-12 Friday night on the road.

When the Welsh Greyhounds and the Jennings Bulldogs face each other Thursday night at Jerry Simmons Stadium, it will be one team looking for win number one and the other looking to stay undefeated. After facing tough competition in the form of Church Point and Eunice, the Bulldogs are an uncharacteristic 0-2, while the Greyhounds have defeated Abbeville and Opelousas Catholic in successive weeks.

Foo Fact of the Game: The Church Point defense held the Jennings offense to only 102 total yards. The Bears had 422 total offensive yards in their 24-8 win over the Bulldogs.

This Friday night, the 0-1 Bulldogs of Jennings will travel to Eunice seeking to put last week’s loss to Church Point behind them, as they take on the 1-0 Bobcats of Eunice High. The Bulldogs lost to Bears last Friday night by a score of 24-8, in a game where Jennings struggled to get their offense on track for most of the game.

ELTON — After an impressive opening week 55-7 victory over the Basile Bearcats, the 1-0 Elton Indians now set their sights on the 1-0 Vinton Lions in a game that is shaping up to be plain old smash-mouth football.

WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds will be looking to move to 2-0 Friday night when they host the Opelousas Catholic Vikings in a non-district battle. The Vikings are fresh off a win over the Breaux Bridge Tigers, while the Hounds posted a strong win over Abbeville last week.

LAKE ARTHUR — The Lake Arthur Tigers will open their home schedule this week when they play host to another brand of Tigers in the form of the DeQuincy Tigers. Lake Arthur pounded Holy Savior Menard last week, while DeQuincy suffered a loss in their first regular season contest.
