Free annual fly-in gives families up-close look at vintage aircraft, weather permitting For 45 years, the roar of vintage engines and the sight of brightly colored airplanes overhead have brought aviation enthusiasts, families and curious children to the Jennings Airport for one of the community’s longest-running aviation traditions. LAKE ARTHUR — Lifelong Lake Arthur resident Lola Broussard has announced her candidacy for Lake Arthur Town Council, saying she hopes to use her decades of community involvement and familiarity with municipal government to serve the town she has always called home. Broussard is among the candidates who qualified for the Lake Arthur Town Council race on the Nov. 3 ballot.

Brandon Kelley of Elton has announced his candidacy for the District 9 seat on the Jeff Davis Parish School Board, representing the Elton and Fenton communities. For Kelley, the decision to run comes from seeing education from several different sides.

JDN Publisher Dona H. Smith moderated the event. The candidates were allowed to introduce themselves and then asked the same questions. They were given two minutes to respond. Additionally, candidates were given three minutes for closing remarks. The following is a verbatim script of their answers as they were spoken.

LAKE ARTHUR — The Homecoming celebration continues by spotlighting this tear’s sophomore Lake Arthur High School Homecoming maids. Representing the sophomore class are Ellie Marie Hebert, Ella Grace Istre and Brynlee Ryanne Orgeron.
