Lawmakers move election in anticipation of Supreme Court ruling

(The Center Square) — Louisiana voters will head to the polls a month later than scheduled next year, the result of the Republican-led state legislature fast-tracking a series of bills in anticipation of the Supreme Court allowing them to redraw congressional districts.

A major interchange here will soon have a bright facelift after the state partnered with the city to update the lighting in the area near Interstate Exit 65.

Fenton Elementary School recently celebrated its annual literacy night with frighteningly fun fall festivities. The event combined the excitement of a traditional fall festival with engaging literacy activities designed to promote a love of reading. Stations featured interactive reading games, face painting, train rides and reading fluency facts for parents. Students dressed in festive fall attire and participated in themed literacy stations where they practiced key reading skills while earning prizes and treats. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as parents and children explored learning together in a fun and welcoming environment. Principal Emily Davis expressed appreciation for the outstanding participation, saying, “It was wonderful to see our families come out and celebrate reading together. Events like this remind us that literacy is the foundation for lifelong learning—and it can be fun, too!”
