Hall of Trees
The Town of Lake Arthur is ready to open its doors to the community for its annual Hall of Trees at 102 Arthur Ave. in the Council room. This year’s theme is “Country Christmas on the Lake” and was made possible thanks to volunteers’ hard work and dedication. The exhibit is free to the public and will be open until Dec. 27.
Christmas is About Love
Now that Christmas has finally arrived, we might be thinking “what next?” While many of us are probably looking forward to the New Year and getting back into the “swing of things,” perhaps we should pause and reflect on the meaning of Christmas. Christmas, of course, means many things to many people, and in truth it is so full of meaning that it is no exaggeration to say that it means something different to everyone. But at its most fundamental level, Christmas is an expression of God’s love for us: “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
Lake Arthur PD to reinvest proceeds from surplus equipment sale
LAKE ARTHUR — The town council has unanimously approved an agreement during a recent meeting to sell surplus equipment, a decision aimed at benefiting the police department.
Zoning condition approved
The Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury Zoning Committee approved a recommendation for the addition of a new zoning condition allowing a dog boarding facility at 4085 Pete Rd. in Jennings. Trent and Katie Gary are planning to build a barn for boarding pets, along with a small commercial storage facility on their three-acre lot, off La. 26.
