ELTON — Mike Pierrotti has announced his candidacy for the Mayor of Elton, which will appear on the Nov. 5 ballot. Pierrotti is running on the platform of experience, leadership, honesty and integrity. He has six years of experience serving on the Elton Town Council and has served as interim mayor since May.

Jeff Davis Parish Libraries will be showing local veterans at Southwest Louisiana Veteran’s Home heartfelt appreciation by sending them thank you notes. During September and October, parish libraries are asking residents to bring their letters for veterans to any of the parish library branches and they will ensure the letters reach veteran friends, Children’s Coordinator Sarah Mabry said. The Welsh library will also hold a letter writing event at 4 p.m., Oct. 9.
