The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 582 points, and the Nasdaq composite fell 1.5%. Stocks swept up in the mania around artificialintelligence technology have been at the center of the market's recent struggles amid criticism that their prices shot too high. Worries are also rising about whether the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates in December, as had been expected.
