Funeral services for Mrs. Marguerite Monks Clifford, 94, of Jennings will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Wells officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation for Mrs. Clifford will be at will begin on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 2 p.m. and will continue until 8 p.m., and will resume at First Baptist Church in Jennings on Friday morning at 8 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Clifford was a Home Economics and Biology teacher for many years at Jennings High Schools. She also taught and coached girls basketball while at Hathaway High School. Her passion for teaching was not only for public schools but as a long time and faithful member of First Baptist Church, she taught Sunday School for 63 years. She retired from public education in the early 1980’s and spent her spare time enjoying craft projects, crossword puzzles and time spent with her family.

Mrs. Clifford is survived by her four sons; Jacob (Patricia) Clifford of Jennings; William (Carol) Pickering of Picayune, Miss.; Thomas (Lynn)Clifford of Pollock, La.; and David (Sally) Pickering of Onalaska, Tex.; two sisters, Ruby (Charles) Kidd of Beaumont, Tex. and Emogene Bass of Marietta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Marguerite Glover, Estelle Rice and Thomas Clifford and two great grandchildren, Gabriel and Caleb.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas P. Clifford; her parents William and Sadie Monks and one brother, William Monks.
