It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Chris Bergeaux announces his passing from this life on July 30, 2018 at the age of 54.

Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, at 11 a.m., with Deacon Mike Tramel officiating.

A gathering of family and friends was held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018 from 5-9 p.m., with a Cursillo rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, from 8 a.m. until the time of his funeral service.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Chris was born in Kinder to Rodney Bergeaux and Earline Breaux Bergeaux on Dec. 1, 1963. He loved the outdoors, fishing and gardening. Chris also loved to cook and loved his grand-dogs, Dexter, Lilly and Beau. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his children and his two grandsons. They were the light of his life.

Chris never met a stranger; he was a kind and compassionate soul who will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Chris is survived by his father and stepmother, Rodney (Wanda) Bergeaux of Jennings; his wife, Angie Lantz Bergeaux of Jennings; his son, Blake Bergeaux (Kya Fontenot) of Broussard; his daughter, Amy Bergeaux (Luke Ortego) of Jennings; his two grandsons, Phoenix Hull and Reid Bergeaux; his brother, Tony “Tatee” Bergeaux (Glenda) of Jennings; his sister, Phyllis Bergeaux (Charlie Broussard) of Jennings; his stepbrother, Darren Kibodeaux of Jennings; his two stepsisters, Cherie Istre of Jennings and Trisha Anderson of Lake Charles; and his special aunt, Margie Cormier, to whom he was very close, of Jennings.

Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Earline Breaux Bergeaux; and his uncle, Hayes Cormier.

Carrying Chris to his final resting place will be Stuart Bergeaux, Tony Bergeaux, Corey LaMarque, Charlie Broussard, Dylan Lantz and Mike Lantz.

Honorary pallbearers will be Zachary LaMarque, Luke Ortego and Kyle
