It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Eva LeBlanc Stitt announces her passing from this life on Aug. 24, 2018 at the age of 87.

Funeral Services for Eva LeBlanc Stitt, 87, were held on Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, at 4 p.m. at Matthews and Son Funeral Chapel in Jennings, with Reverend Clifton LeJeune officiating.

A gathering of family and friends was held at the funeral home on Sunday, Aug. 26, from 3-8 p.m. The family requested that visitation resume on Monday, Aug.27, from 10 a.m. until the time of her funeral services.

Eva was laid to rest in Calvary Mausoleum.

Eva was born in Morse to Alcee LeBlanc and Theresa Trahan LeBlanc on June 21, 1931. She was a resident of Welsh. Eva enjoyed genealogy and co-wrote a book with her daughter tracing her LeBlanc family roots back to the original settlers from France. She was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha in Houston, Texas, and lived in several cities during her life, including Atlanta, Ga., Philadelphia, Penn., and Ft. Lauderdale, Fa.

Eva loved traveling and her friends and family were often amazed at her independence and ability to get up and go. She was a strong woman with an ability to accomplish anything she set her mind to. Eva was a fierce protector of those she loved and enjoyed nothing more than large family events and spending time with siblings. She participated in Girl Scouts, parent-teacher associations and volunteered in the Atlanta public school system. Eva also held various positions as an administrative assistant, including working for the Broward Sheriff’s office in Ft. Lauderdale, Fa.

She lived life to its fullest, each day on her own terms and by her own rules. Eva was a groundbreaker and independent thinker. We should all be so lucky and blessed.

Eva is survived by her daughter, Leslie Stitt Braddock of Sevierville, Tenn.; granddaughters, Kathryn Nicole Braddock of Melbourne, Fla., Elizabeth Marie Braddock of Memphis, Tenn., and Sarah Victoria Braddock of Miami, Fla.; and sisters, Dorothy LeBlanc Benoit of Jennings, Vina LeBlanc (Jack) Langley of Jennings, Ruth LeBlanc Richard of Jennings and Elday LeBlanc Thibodaux of Morse.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Alcee and Theresa T. LeBlanc of Jennings; four brothers, Alcee Jay LeBlanc, Nolan LeBlanc, Emory LeBlanc and Carlton LeBlanc, all of Jennings; and three sisters, Hilda LeBlanc Broussard of Jennings, Lucille LeBlanc Doucet of Jennings and Audrey LeBlanc Broussard of Estherwood.

Carrying Eva to her final resting place will be Michael King, Carton Leger, Ray Morvant, Leslie Wade Fontenot, Kacinda Fontenot and Chanda Banks.
