    Emily Waguespack Gann, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the age of 98.

    She is survived by her children, Michael A. Gann of Grand Prairie, Texas, Patrick C. (Jamie) Gann of Gulfport, Miss., Terry C. (Jollene) Gann of Lexington, Ky. and Darcy G. (Chris) Bush of Maurepas; daughter-inlaw, Elsie D. Gann; grandchildren, Lisa Thompson, Joshua Gann, Lauri Arnold, Brad Gann, Douglas Gann, Mandy Gann and Jamie Miller; great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

    She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Oscar 'Al' Gann; children, Thomas L. Gann, Timothy F. Gann, Jory R. Gann and Mary Kay Gann; parents, Clement and Anisia Hebert Waguespack; and her siblings.

    Born in Thibodaux on Nov. 5, 1927 to her parents, Clement and Anisia Waguespack, Emily pursued a degree in education, where she taught in both the public and Catholic school systems until her retirement. After briefly teaching in Thibodaux, Emily found her way to Jennings where she met her husband, Al, and raised her family. She was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians in Jennings, then became a parishioner of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Thibodaux. Emily will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, but her family has comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and reunited with her loved ones.

    Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at Thibodaux Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at St. Genevieve Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Jennings.

    The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Legacy Lafourche and St. Joseph Hospice for their excellent care and compassion. A special thank you to Jamie Miller for always being there for her granny.

    In lieu of flowers, donation and/or masses can be given at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Thibodaux, Our Lady Help of Christians in Jennings and Our Lady Immaculate Catholic School in Jennings.
