A memorial gathering will be held on Monday July 20, 2026 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Miguez Funeral Home in Lake Arthur for Fabus Paul Bonin. A memorial service to honor his life will be held the same day at 1 p.m. with Father Keith Pellerin officiating.
Paul was born on Oct. 24, 1960 to Lloyd and Eva Bonin. He was a 1978 Lake Arthur graduate. He attended McNeese State University and received a Masters of Education degree. He served as a science teacher, coach, counselor and assistant principal in Jefferson Davis Parish. He retired from the school system in 2010. He was also a volunteer firefighter and rescue diver for Lake Arthur Fire Department and a blackjack dealer. He was a very skilled handy man who had many talents with carpentry, painting, crawfish boiling, BBQing and playing ping-pong. He was most proud of having all three of his children go on to obtain college degrees. He will be dearly missed and remembered for all the good and fun times he shared with family and friends.
He is survived by his three children, Ben (Haley) Bonin, Zac (Bill) Bonin and Kadie (Greg) Verret; his five grandchildren, Slayden, Tucker, Thomas, Alice and Tate; his brother, Lenny (Clarice) Bonin and lifelong best friend, Donald Kratzer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Eva and his siblings, Leon, Floyd, Edna and Clayton. He is also preceded in death by his especially close cousin, Tubby Bonin.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of St Joseph Hospice Home of Lafayette for their compassionate care during his brief illness.
