The family of Ronald Lee (Ronnie) Cormier of Mermentau announces his passing and celebrates his life. Born March 19, 1937, in Houston, Texas, Ronnie was raised in Jennings. He served in the U.S. Army then built a career as a welder with Zigler Shipyard, SBA Shipyard and PPG, retiring in 1999. In 1960, he married Florence “Flo” Gautreaux of Mermentau and together they raised their family. Ronnie was a devoted gardener, a stranger to no one. He is survived by his wife, children Marty, Laura and Keith, granddaughter Lindsey and niece, Kim. The family thanks his caregivers at both JDLC and SWLA VA Home for their kindness and compassion.
Surrounded by his loved ones, Cormier passed peacefully Friday, May 29. He was 89.
