IOWA — The Welsh Greyhounds had the tough task of drawing one of the top teams in all of Southwest Louisiana in the Iowa Yellow Jackets in the first round of the Mallett Builders Iowa High School Invitational. The two squads had previously met at the Elton Indian Invitational, and the result would be the same in this one. Iowa outgunned the Greyhounds by a final of 78-45. The Yellow Jackets remained perfect on the season 9-0, while the Hounds evened up at 3-3. The Hounds were back in action Friday night when they hosted either Bell City or Sulphur at Greyhound Gymnasium at 6:20. Lake Arthur would then do battle with Hathaway right after at 7:40 at WHS.
IOWA — Jeff Davis Parish (JDP) teams Elton High Indians and Lake Arthur High Tigers traveled to Iowa Thursday night for the Mallet Builders Iowa High School Invitational at David Buller Gymnasium as the bracket pitted the two parish teams against each other. The Indians secured the lead early in the game and left with the win of 67-47.

IOWA — The Hathaway High Hornets made the short trip to Iowa Thursday night to compete in the Mallet Builders Iowa High School Invitational. They met the Sam Houston High Broncos on the hardwood at David Buller Gymnasium on the Iowa High campus. The Hornets put up a fight but ultimately fell 80-50 to the Broncos. The loss moved the Hornets to 2-11 and the Broncos to 5-3.
IOWA — The Hathaway Yellow Jackets strolled in the Mallett Builders Iowa High School Basketball Tournament Wednesday and let everyone know who the team to beat on the girls’ side was quite quickly. The Lady Hornets made quick work out of the Grand Lake Lady Hornets by a final of 84-32 in a game that was never contested. Hathaway rode the sharp shooting duo of freshman Sienna Guidry and senior Lamiyah Sanchez, who combined for 49 points and 13 3-pointers in the win. The Lady Hornets are back in action this afternoon when they take on the Lacassine Lady Cardinals at 5 pm at David Buller Gymnasium in Iowa.
Two Jeff Davis Parish (JDP) teams met on the hardwood Tuesday night as the Jennings High Lady Bulldogs hosted the Elton High Lady Indians at Gaudet Gymnasium on the Jennings High School campus.
