OBERLIN — The Jennings boys’ basketball team traveled to play the Class 1A Oberlin Tigers on Monday night. Turnovers hampered the Dogs in the first half as the Tigers doubled up on the Dogs for a 34-17 halftime lead. In the second half, more turnovers enabled the Tigers to outscore the Dogs 32-25, giving Oberlin a 66-42 win. In the first half, Oberlin outscored Jennings 16-7. Scoring for Jennings was Jeredyn LeGros with a trey and two points from both Graham Deese and Raecyn Levi. Oberlin was led by Navarre Williams with seven, Kole Sonnier with a trey and two from Jaylon Bokemeye r , Frank Thomas and Jordan Colton.

A young Jennings resident has set his sights on the powerlifting world, breaking records and following in the footsteps of family members who also participated in the sport.

Hornets clash with Rebels

The Elton High School Lady Indians welcomed the South Cameron High Lady Tarpons this week at Oris Guidry Gymnasium. Elton came out on top, defeating South Cameron with a final score of 50-38.

LAKE ARTHUR — The Lake Arthur High Lady Tigers dominated their home court Monday night at Nookie Moore Gymnasium, rolling past the Eunice High Lady Bobcats with a huge 56-20 victory.

Jennings natives Travis and Trevor Etienne are well known around the area. Both running backs, Travis for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Trevor, also a return specialist, for the Carolina Panthers in the National Football League. Now, the brothers are gaining more notoriety as their respective NFL teams head to the playoffs.

LAKE ARTHUR — The Lake Arthur Countdown Classic tournament kicked off this week at Nookie Moore Gymnasium. The Lake Arthur High Tigers welcomed the Jennings High Bulldogs in a parish showdown Tuesday night.
