SULPHUR – The Jennings Bulldogs used a huge offensive explosion to erupt for a 62-42 district-opening win over the St. Louis Saints at Matt Walker Stadium in Sulphur. The Bulldog offense churned out over 530 yards of total offense in the win by having three backs all go over the 100-yard mark in the rushing department. The Dogs broke open a close contest in the fourth quarter by scoring 21 points in the final stanza to pull away from what was a 42-35 lead at the end of three quarters. Jammaric McZeal spearheaded the rushing attack for the Dogs by accumulating right at 225 yards on the ground and three TD’s, while freshman Re’John Zeno earned his first 100-yard varsity game by registering 129 stripes and two TD’s. Just for good measure, senior quarterback Trevor Etienne rushed for 116 stripes and three TD’s, and also tossed the pigskin for 82 yards.

WELSH - For the first time this season, the Welsh Greyhounds struggled on offense, as they could manage but 85 yards of total offense in a 47-7 loss to the Notre Dame Pioneers in the opening round of District 6-2A play.

The Lake Arthur Tigers fell on the road to powerful Lafayette Christian Academy by a final of 49-0 on Friday.

The Jennings Bulldogs will look to open the 2021 district 4-3A season off with a bang tonight when they travel to Sulphur to take on the St. Louis Saints. The contest will serve as the league opener for both squads, as the Saints ended non-district play with a mark of 3-2, while the Dogs are currently sitting at 1-4. Jennings dropped a tough road decision to Sterlington last Friday night by a final of 45-14, while the Saints toppled LaGrange by a count of 30-6.
