MIDLAND — The Hathaway Lady Hornets basketball team traveled to play the Midland Lady Rebels Friday night in a district game. Midland bolted out to a 22-10 led and would lead 33-31 at halftime. Hathaway led 44-40 in the third period, but Midland would make a fourth period comeback to take a 64-63 win.

LAKE ARTHUR — The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers kept their winning ways up on Friday as they belted the Grand Lake Hornets in a district contest by a final of 71-12 at “Nookie” Moore Gymnasium. With the win, Lake Arthur moves to 18-4 overall and is sitting at No.4 in the latest Division IV non-select power ratings. Senior guard Vivian Sketoe led the Lady Tiger charge by popping in a game-high 23 points.

BELL CITY — The Lacassine Cardinals kept their winning ways going last week as they traveled to Bell City and left with a 78-43 win over the Bruins. The No. 2-ranked Cards moved their sparkling record out to 28-1 on the season, 2-0 in league play. Bell City dropped to 7-12 overall on the season with the lopsided loss. The Cardinals placed four players in double figures, while knocking down 12 3-point buckets in the contest. Alexx Thomas led the way for Lacassine by pumping in a game-high 26 points, including four of the 12 3-point missiles. Lacassine was set to be back in action on Tuesday night when they took on the Hathaway Hornets in a big Jeff Davis Parish showdown.

LAKE ARTHUR — The Lake Arthur High Tigers hosted the Grand Lake High Hornets in district competition Friday night at “Nookie” Moore Gymnasium. The Tigers would be too much for the Hornets to handle as they dominated the hardwood from the start of the game until the final buzzer for the 68-31 win. The 37-point win brings Lake Arthur to 7-8, while Grand Lake drops to 4-11.

AUBURN, Ala. — A late LSU effort was not enough to overcome a five-point fourth quarter deficit against Auburn on Sunday afternoon. LSU fell 67-62 in front of the 7,720 fans in attendance, which was the largest crowd for an Auburn Women’s Basketball game in Neville Arena.

WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds opened district 5-2A play on the right foot this week by topping the Grand Lake Hornets by a final of 66-53 at Greyhound Gymnasium. The Hounds are currently sitting at No. 6 in the latest Division IV non-select power ratings and upped their overall mark to 9-8 on the season, 1-0 in league play. The Hounds were back in action Friday night when they took on the DeQuincy Tigers in another district showdown. Welsh put a trio of players in double figures in their win over the Hornets, led by Jonavon Begnaud’s 18 big tallies.
