THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — A lawyer for relatives of people killed in the 2014 downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 over eastern Ukraine told a court hearing Thursday that 290 relatives and partners of the victims have filed compensation claims for “emotional distress” against the four suspects charged in the downing.

BAKER (AP) — Members of a Louisiana State University fraternity chipped in more than $50,000 to pay off the mortgage of a woman who fed them when they were students.
The French language was practiced Tuesday during the Welsh library’s Coffee and Conversation with Friends. The event aims to revive use of the Cajun French language through a variety of activities.
