On July 29, the Jeff Davis Volunteers for Family and Community met for their quarterly council meeting. During the gathering, JDVFC Scholarship Chairman Jackie Brown announced the two girls who were selected for scholarships based on their academic excellence. This year’s winners included Lacassine High School graduate Kinzie Brossell and Hathaway High School graduate Gracie Lavergne. Each girl received a check for $500 to assist with their future educational expenses.
What if happiness isn’t about accumulating wealth, but about how you use your resources—time, money and emotional energy—to create joy for yourselves and others? Picture your next family gathering not filled with tension or superficial chatter, but genuine laughter and meaningful connections. Imagine seeing the joy on your loved ones’ faces when you share something special with them—not after you’re gone, but right now, creating memories that last.
An award of appreciation was bestowed upon the manager of the McBurney Memorial Library in Welsh, Jean Stoute. This plaque recognizes Stoute’s exceptional dedication and contributions to the library system and its patrons, with particular acknowledgment of her efforts during the grand opening of the new Welsh Library Events Center in May. The award was presented to Stoute by Jeff Davis Parish Library Director Michael Staton, along with Library Board President Marcia Pfeiffer and Library Board Vice President Dianne Hebert.
