JHS GRADUATES RECEIVE AMERICAN LEGION AWARDS

CELEBRATION

Jennings High School recently honored its top 10 Platinum TTA seniors at awards day. Carli Ardoin, Jenna Broussard, Brynn Fullilove, Ardyn Jardell, Alyssa Kerley, Kaide LeJeune, Michael O’Brien, Aimee Richard, Dane Sonnier and Andyn Grace Zammit were recipients of the award.

As my cousin read aloud our Grandmother’ s Brunswick Stew recipe, I enjoyed all the imagery it evoked, not to mention the aromatic recollection of that stew which was prepared with chicken, pork, tomatoes and corn in a turnof- the-century kitchen that always smelled heavenly.

Trailblazers Club of Volunteers for Family and Community, a non-profit organization, recently donated $500 to the Jeff Davis Parish 4-H Foundation. VFC is made up of two area groups — Domestic Divas and Trailblazers. On April 16, several members of the Jeff Davis Volunteer Family and Community traveled to Houma to attend the state convention. Those in attendance included (back, from left) Charlotte Duplechain, Jackie Brown, Carol Perry, Karen Daigle and Aline Babineaux, as well as (front, from left) Ernestine Freeman, Barbara Litteral, Linda Rogers and Marilyn Strickland.
