Children are invited to attend Welsh Library’s Story Time held at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays.

Homecoming preparations are well underway within the halls of Lake Arthur High School (LAHS) as well as across the entire town. With this in mind, we continue the Homecoming season by giving a spotlight feature each week to the year’s Lake Arthur High School Homecoming Court Maids.

(Columnist’s Note: I have the deepest compassion and respect for those in Louisiana who survived Hurricane Laura and now must survive the days that follow. This column was written two years ago after Hurricane Michael destroyed so much peace on earth…right before we were slated to celebrate peace on earth. It is my prayer that God will comfort and strengthen you, my Louisiana friends, and keep you safe. Christmas or not, I hope you hear the angels’ voices.)

It takes more than a stylish director to make a great horror film. It takes more than an old dark house, a gruesome monster or even a fistful of scares.

LAKE ARTHUR – Homecoming has always been a Lake Arthur tradition that brings with it a welcoming warmth to all those who experience it. The town of Lake Arthur’s Homecoming is recognized mostly for its unity between past and present. This event continues each year to draw in alumni for a two day trip down memory lane and a celebration like no other.
