LAKE ARTHUR - Homecoming in Lake Arthur is a festive event which brings all LA students and alumni together in a celebration of both the past and the present.

As the wick on our “life’s candle” starts to burn a little lower, looking back over the paths we’ve trodden becomes more and more frequent.

Una Richard celebrated her 101st birthday recently surrounded by loved ones including (from left) Jonna Guidry Norwood with baby Adirah, Harvey Richard and Danda Guidry.

Iapproached the back door, and there they were: beautiful works of art, basking in the sun.

They were porcelain white and flawless.

I was in awe.
