As the wick on our “life’s candle” starts to burn a little lower, looking back over the paths we’ve trodden becomes more and more frequent. The only hope is to find some significance in our having lived. There are a couple of euphamisms that deal with insignificance. One is “Foolish consistences are the hobgoblins of small minds.” The other is a recommendation, “Don’t major in minor things.”
