Recent dog attacks across the parish have underscored what local officials say is an urgent public safety gap — and renewed calls to open the parish’s newly completed animal shelter.

James Ward Center for Excellence recently held its third graduation ceremony on Monday, May 11, in the school’s gymnasium, bidding adieu to 19 seniors.

Residents have one more chance to catch the free concert series Turn It Up Tuesday when Jamie Bergeron and the Kickin’ Cajuns take the stage at Founder’s Park from 6-8 p.m. on May 12.
