LAKE ARTHUR — Jeff Davis Parish Gravity Sub-District A of Gravity Drainage District No. 1 recently received an audit of their financial statement for the financial year ending Dec. 31, 2023. The 14-page report was completed by certified public accountant Mike B. Gillespie of Jennings.

Houssiere’s Park open to public

Recent improvements to the road at Houssiere’s Park have helped open the gates and prepare it for more public use. Jeff Davis Parish Policy Jury Road Supervisor Randy Ruinget led efforts to help get the road in better shape, after flooding and hurricanes had washed away some areas, causing the gates to be closed to public use. “We’ve been keeping the area up recently, re-rocking the road,” he said. “It had gotten muddy from high waters coming over the banks, forcing us to close off access to the back portion of the park.”
