NEW YORK (AP) — A federal judge on Monday granted the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, as well as employers in two Southern states, temporary relief from complying with a federal rule that would have required them to provide workers with time off and other workplace accommodations for abortions.

Town officials mull electric program
WELSH — Town officials here have much to discuss after hearing a presentation about a new program through the town’s electric authority. The Welsh Board of Aldermen and Mayor Karl Arceneaux were presented with a new program through Louisiana Energy and Power Authority — a non-profit agency created by the State Legislature in 1979 to provide a reliable and economical supply of electrical power and energy to member municipalities — that would help balance the cost of purchasing electricity.
