Lantz awarded Optimist scholarship
Jennings High School senior Jillian Lantz was chosen to be the recipient of a $2,500 scholarship through the Optimist Club of Jennings. Lantz is an active member of the JHS FFA organization, where she presides over the group as president. She also serves as the Louisiana FFA state parliamentarian.

WHS Dazzlers make finals at first nationals appearance
ORLANDO, Fla. — Welsh High School Dazzlers dance team made their first trip to a national competition at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla. recently. Each year at summer dance camp, the team competes for a high ranking that allows them a bid to nationals. This year they were able to make the trip with the support of many local sponsors.
Turn It Up Tuesday continues
Area music lovers will have another chance to gather on Tuesday, April 9 in downtown Jennings for some toetapping tunes during the free weekly concert series, Turn It Up Tuesday. The live music event is presented by Jeff Davis Arts Council, which presents free concerts each spring and fall and this season’s series runs through May 7 at Founders Park in Jennings. The semiannual event is open to anyone who enjoys live music, dancing and fun. A different musician or group performs on stage from 6-8 p.m. each Tuesday. Turn it Up Tuesdays is made possible thanks to the City of Jennings, entrepreneur Joy Lebleu and JDAC.
