There’s nothing like chasing a chicken to get the blood pumping on a chilly winter morning. Children at the Welsh Kid’s Mardi Gras Run were thrilled at the chance to catch the chicken and spared no time pouncing on the feathery foe.

JDSB to hold Young Athletes Fun Day
Parish schools are participating in a fundamental skills day this week to promote inclusion among students. Jeff Davis Parish School Board (JDSB) is partnering with Special Olympics Louisiana to bring a little friendly competition to parish students in grades pre-K through second.
Sonnier advances in state-wide Student of the Year competition
Jennings High School (JHS) senior Dane Sonnier, who was awarded Jeff Davis Parish Student of the Year (SOTY), was recently named a regional finalist for the competition after winning on the school zone level. “As of right now, I’ve moved past the school zone round and am a regional finalist,” he said. “The regional level (competition) will take place in early February.” Sonnier said he is extremely blessed and honored to have won on multiple levels. “My high school career has had a lot of ups and downs, so it’s amazing to be able to hold this title on the other side of those challenges,” he said. “I am proud to be able to represent both JHS and Jeff Davis Parish.”
