(AP) — The U.S. military has launched its secret space plane on another mission that's expected to last at least a couple of years. Known as the X-37B, the mini space shuttle blasted off from NASA's Kennedy Space Center on Thursday aboard a SpaceX rocket. The Space Force's reusable, robotic craft is carrying classified experiments. There's no one on board. It's the seventh flight since its debut in 2010. Altogether, the program has logged more than 10 years in orbit. The last mission lasted 2 1/2 years.

ELTON — Elton has welcomed a new pharmaceutical face to the town after longtime pharmacist Anward Mayeux retired. Cameroon native Dr. Anthony Angu took over and purchased Mayeux's Pharmacy from Mayeux a couple of years ago and hasn't looked back since. The doctor received his undergraduate degree from the University of Louisiana-Monroe before receiving his doctorate from the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore in Prince Anne, Md. Dr. Angu spent time working in Fayetteville, N.C. before working in Union City, Ga. for three years.
NEW YORK (AP) — People hoping to leave problems and bad memories behind with the waning year have converged on Times Square for “Good Riddance Day.” It's a promotional pre-New Year’s Eve event that offers the public a chance to, at least symbolically, throw out burdens and peeves. On Thursday, people wrote down things they hoped to leave behind, and a magician set the papers ablaze with a grill lighter. What were some of those things? Anger issues, medical bills, work stress, insecurities, taxes and regrets. People also listed bad habits, bad hair days, COVID19, worrying about what other people think and the “negativity of 2023.”
