An area blood center is seeking parish residents to help save lives by giving the gift of life through blood donation this holiday season.

The Jeff Davis Parish Library recently donated over 20 boxes of books to the James Ward Center for Excellence (JWCE) to help get their new library off the ground and boost the amount of reading materials available to students.

With Christmas and New Year’s swiftly approaching, the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission (LHSC) is sponsoring the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, to spot, stop and arrest drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

LAKE ARTHUR — The town recently adopted a new trash pickup schedule and officials would like to remind residents of the new guidelines to ensure pick-up goes smoothly.

The Jennings Police Department (JPD) responded to a call that led to the arrest of a Jennings man for domestic abuse.

Jeff Davis Arts Council (JADC), in conjunction with the Zigler Art Museum (ZAM) and Jeff Davis Arts and Technology Center, will be holding an opportunity for local families to enjoy a holiday-themed event this week. Ahead of the upcoming holiday, JDAC is holding its annual Christmas ornament event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from now until Friday, Dec. 22 at the Arts and Technology Center, located at 137 North Main St. This activity is free and each participant will have the opportunity to create two Christmas ornaments. It allows children to assist with decorating the center and have a keepsake to decorate at home, according to ZAM employee Jannie Crochet.
