Jeff Davis Parish elected a new sheriff Saturday and casted votes in other local and statewide races.

Parish residents can once again resume burning as Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury recently announced its intention to remove Jeff Davis Parish from the statewide burn ban. Although parish officials opted out, Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office has yet to rescind the ban that has been in place since the summer. With Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner, the local fire department wishes to remind Jeff Davis Parish residents about the importance of using safety while cooking those scrumptious holiday feasts.
