The Jennings Lady Bulldogs erupted for a huge district win over the Lake Charles College Prep Lady Trailblazers (LCCP) at Gaudet Gymnasium on Friday night. The Lady Dogs broke the clock by putting up 101 points, and used a huge night from Anna Trahan to capture the 101-23 win. The senior guard poured in 38 points, and hit a whopping 10 3-pointers in the victory. No. 4 Jennings moves to 24-7 overall on the year, and currently sits in second in district 4-3A. The Lady Dogs hosted South Beauregard Tuesday night in a game that will ultimately decide second place in District 4-3A.
HATHAWAY – The No.1 Hathaway Lady Hornets continued their assault on district 6-B Friday night by pounding the Lacassine Lady Cardinals 82-46 at Charles Groth Gymnasium. The win allowed the Lady Hornets to capture the district crown yet again heading towards postseason play. The Lady Hornets moved their sparkling record out to 28-4 overall, while the No. 11-ranked Lady Cardinals fell to 16-13. Hathaway placed four players in double figures in the win, with Lamiyah Sanchez leading the way with 21 tallies.
HATHAWAY – The Lacassine Cardinals wrapped up a district 6-B title Friday night by slipping past the Hathaway Hornets 74-69 at Charles Groth Gymnasium. Trailing going into the fourth frame, the Cardinals were able to outscore the Hornets 26-18 in the final period to claim the five-point win. With the win, Lacassine moved their impressive record out to 28-5 overall, 8-0 in league play. It also kept the Cards win streak rolling at 18 consecutive victories. Hathaway dropped to 7-19 overall on the season.
LAFAYETTE – The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers dropped a tough 6-2A contest Friday night against the LCA Lady Knights by a final of 74-50. The Lady Tigers took down LCA in the first round of district at home, but the two teams will be knotted atop the league standings as the season nears the end. Jada Richard poured in 31 points for the Lady Knights in the win. No. 5 Lake Arthur dropped to 22-6 overall, while Division III No. 1 LCA moved to 17-7 overall. Both schools have one district loss.
