EUNICE – The Lacassine Cardinals finished their assault on the St. Edmund High School Tournament by blasting Grace Christian 79-48 to claim the tournament title. The Cards went 3-0 in the event and beat all three teams by over 30 points. The No. 4-ranked Cardinals moved their overall record to 18-5 for the season, and played the Kinder Yellow Jackets in a non-district match up on Tuesday night. The Cards placed four players in double figures in the big win, with Kane Broussard leading the way with his 24 tallies.

LAKE ARTHUR – The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers played host to the Oakdale Lady Warriors Tuesday night, and came away with a 52-42 win at “Nookie” Moore Gymnasium. The Lady Tigers used a pair of big evenings from Kali Hornsby and Vivian Sketoe to secure the win over the feisty Lady Warriors. Hornsby went for 24 points, while Sketoe tallied 20 of her own, to combine for 44 of the Lady Tigers’ 52 total points. With the win, Lake Arthur moves to 14-4 overall, while Oakdale fell to 8-9.

Lady Hornets take down No.3 Lady K’s 77-45

HATHAWAY – The Hathaway Lady Hornets came back out of the holiday break and welcomed in the No. 3-ranked team in Class 3A, the South Beauregard Lady Knights, to Charles Groth Gymnasium on Tuesday. The Lady Hornets demolished their guests by a final of 77-45 in a contest that was never really close, upping their overall mark to 20-2 overall. Hathaway placed four players in double figures, with Chloey Guidry and Lamiyah Sanchez combining for 46. Hathaway was back in action in the Washington-Marion Tournament on Wednesday when they did battle with the Barbe Lady Bucs. Barbe is only one of two teams to defeat the Lady Hornets this season.

Lady Cardinals thrash WM 66-36

LAKE CHARLES – The Lacassine Lady Cardinals opened play at the Washington-Marion Tournament on Wednesday by taking down the hosts by a final of 66-36 in a morning affair. The Lady Cards led from start to finish here, and used big games from Sydnie Cooley and Isabella Hardy to propel them to victory. Cooley and Isabella Hardy combined for 40 points in the 30-point win. With the victory, Lacassine improves to 12-9 overall on the season.

The victory was the second in as many days for the Cards, and they upped their overall record to 17-5. Lacassine placed four players in double figures in the win.
