LAKE ARTHUR - The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers had went over to Lafayette Christian Academy’s (LCA) gym in the first round of league play and delivered a statement to the Lady Knights with a 10-point win. When the Lady Knights returned the visit, they had a little redemption on their minds. Despite Lake Arthur holding an eightpoint lead at the half, LCA rallied in the second half to claim a 62-57 victory to create a tie in the 6-2A district standings. Despite the loss, Lake Arthur senior Deonna Brister hit a pair of milestones in the game, recording her 2,000th career point and her 1,000th career rebound. On top of that, she hit a game-high 29 points in the loss to LCA.
LACASSINE - The Hathaway Lady Hornets all but assured themselves a district 6-B title Friday night as they defeated previously unbeaten Lacassine by a final of 65-56 at John Juneau Gymnasium. It was the Chloey Guidry show for the Lady Hornets, as the sharp shooter nailed seven 3-pointers and ended her night with 29 total points en route to the nine-point victory.The Lady Hornets as a whole connected on 14 jumpers from behind the 3-point arc in the contest. The two squads came into the contest both ranked in the Top-5 in Class B, and don’t expect that to change much when playoff brackets are announced this Sunday.
