The Jennings High Bulldogs moved their record to 4-2 Tuesday night with a 75-49 thrashing of the Welsh Greyhounds at Gaudet Gymnasium.

The Elton Lady Indians faced the Basile Lady Bearcats on Tuesday night, securing a 65-50-point victory over the district rivals.

SULPHUR - The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers (LA) kept up their winning ways Tuesday night, as they traveled to Sulphur to take on the 5A Golden Tors. The Tigers used a dominant 28-point performance by Deonna Brister in the win, and also saw Kali Hornsby score her 1,000th career point in the 63-36 win over Sulphur. With the win, the Lady Tigers pushed their overall record to 18-2.

The Jennings Lady Bulldogs came into Tuesday night’s contest with Welsh riding high following a 72- 22 destruction of David Thibodeaux Academy Monday night. However, a fiesty group of Lady Hounds showed up and pushed the Lady Dogs to the limit. Jennings claimed a 53-47 victory over their parish rival at Gaudet Gymnasium, and moved their overall mark to 13-2 on the season. With the loss, Welsh fell to 6-12 on the year. The game was a tale of two big guns, as Jennings’ Jill Fontenot and Welsh’s Ariyon Artis. However, Fontenot and the Lady Dogs would just muster enough to escape the upset.

LAKE ARTHUR - In a showdown of basketball powers in not just Jeff Davis Parish, but in all of Southwest Louisina, the Hathaway Lady Hornets (HHS) traveled down to “Nookie” Moore Gymnasium to take on the Lake Arthur Lady Tigers (LA). Both squads made trips to the Top 28 State Tournament last season, and both came in rated in the Top-5 in their respective classes according to power ranking issued by geauxpreps.com. The 2A Lady Tigers ended up fighting their way to a 60-38 win, moving their overall record to 17-2 overall, while the Lady Hornets dropped to 13-3. The two teams combined for a whopping 15 3-pointers in the contest, but started with a bang and never looked back.

LACASSINE - The Lacassine Cardinals and Lady Cardinals swept Kinder Tuesday night at John Juneau Gymnasium.

OXFORD, Miss.— The LSU women’s basketball team hit the road Monday to take on the Ole Miss Rebels in The Pavilion after a thrilling comeback victory againstAubum on New Year’s Eve in the PMAC. The Tigers took down the Rebels in overtime, 77-69.
