It was a hot and humid Friday night under the lights of Jerry Simmons Stadium in September of 1995. The 3A Jennings Bulldogs were set to battle the 5A Lagrange Gators in the season opener.

LAKE ARTHUR – The Tarius Davis era really kicked off at Lake Arthur last Wednesday night, as his club raced out to a big lead at the half against the Vinton Lions. The Lions were all too familiar to Davis, as he spent the last nine years as the headman at the school. The Lions were able to put up some points in the second half – 22 to be exact – but it was too late as the Tigers grabbed their first win 41-28 in an emotional victory for Lake Arthur.

After Jennings HIgh School replaced original opponent Washington-Marion with 5A Comeaux this coming week, things have changed again. Citing multiple reports of a Covid-19 outbreak, the Spartans opted out of the Friday night contest with the Dogs.

Foo Fact of the Game: Once again, Jennings fell behind by 2 scores, but didn’t panic, remained focus and went on to defeat a good 4A Cecilia team 59-49.

The Lake Arthur Tigers defeated the Vinton Lions 41-28 for their first win of the season.

CECILIA - In a rare Wednesday night football game, the Jennings Bulldogs won a shootout over the Cecilia Bulldogs by a final of 59-49. Fireworks were all over the field on both sides, but the Jennings offense continued to answer the call possession after possession. Jennings again overcame a 14-0 early deficit to rally and claim another win over a quality 4A opponent.
