Big second period lifts Lady Cards over Simsboro in opening round
LACASSINE — The No. 15 Lacassine Lady Cardinals opened their playoff push with a nice 65-55 win over Simsboro on Thursday night at John Juneau Gymnasium. The Lady Cards used a huge second period scoring push to ultimately come out on top. The Lady Cards were outscored in every quarter but the second, where they put up 24 points in building a lead they would never relinquish. Addsion Hollier had a huge night for the Lady Cards by pumping in 26 points and yanking down 12 rebounds for a double-double. The Lady Cards now advance to play the No. 2-seeded Bell City Lady Bruins on Monday at 6pm at Bruin Gymnasium. The two district mates played twice during the district schedule, with Bell City winning both of them. The winner of that contest will then square off against the winner of No. 7 Negreet and No. 10 Zwolle in the quarterfinals.
