Cards to square off with No. 2 Weston on Wednesday

MIDLAND — The District 6-B track meet was held last Thursday at Midland High School. The two JDP teams in the district were Hathaway High School (HHS) and Lacassine High School (LHS).

Jennings set to travel to No. 1 Lutcher in round two

DERIDDER — Members of the Elton High track team competed Wednesday at the 2024 LHSAA District 5-1A track meet held at East Beauregard High School. Those placing in the top four in each event will advance to the regional meet to be held later this month.

The No. 8 Jennings Lady Bulldogs hosted the No.9 Iota Lady Bulldogs in the regional round of the playoffs Wednesday at Tom Precht Field. For the first five innings, the game was close as Iota led 2-0. In the 6th inning, Iota would score seven runs and go on to win 9-1 to advance to the quarter final round.

IOWA — Members of the Jennings High track team competed Tuesday at the 2024 LHSAA District 3-3A track meet held at Iowa High School. Those placing in the top four in each event will advance to the regional meet to be held later this month.

Three area baseball teams saw their names called when the 2024 LHSAA playoff brackets were released yesterday. Jennings, Welsh and Lacassine all received bids to postseason play, and games will kick off today. The three teams are vying for a trip to the LHSAA State Tournament in Sulphur in the beginning of May. Jennings will travel to open the playoffs, while both Welsh and Lacassine both received byes and will host a second round game.
