CROWLEY — The Jennings Bulldogs went through a tumultuous day on Monday, not knowing what the status of their final regular season contest against Lake Arthur would be because of issues involved with an incident that closed school. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Jennings High School and serve as senior night for the Bulldogs. The game was moved to the Jennings Recreation Department but scheduling conflicts and safety concerns also dampened that idea. Finally, it was determined that game would be played at Heritage Park in Crowley and the Bulldogs and Tigers were able to strap it on. Jennings capitalized on the opportunity and beat their parish rival by a final of 8-1. Jennings rode the dominant pitching performance of senior Tyler Daigle, who only allowed one run and struck out 13 in a complete game win over the Tigers. The Jennings offense was held to only four hits in the contest by Lake Arthur pitchers Cameron Bonin and Aleck O’Nellion, but used a big six run inning to catapult them to the win. With the win, the Bulldogs moved to 16-11 overall, and will now await the playoff announcement later this week. Lake Arthur capped off their season with a record of 4-19.
BATON ROUGE — An Elton High School senior recently competed at the 2024 USA Powerlifting High School Nationals held at the Crowne Plaza in Baton Rouge. Danerian (D.D.) Actlis returned home with two new American records and a World record after obliterating the competition.
LONGVILLE — The Jennings Bulldogs split a pair of games in the district tournament on Thursday night, beating the St. Louis Saints by a final of 7-5, but losing to South Beauregard 16-0 in the following contest. The Dogs currently sit at 14-11 overall and will wrap up their regular season on Monday with a game against Lake Arthur. In the first game, Jennings rallied after falling behind 4-1 to earn the 7-5 win over the Saints. Jennings banged out 10 hits in the win, with Jude Monic leading the way with a 4-4 performance. The first baseman had a pair of doubles and pair of singles while also picking up three RBI. Tyler Daigle earned the win on the mound for the Dogs by tossing five innings of six-hit ball. He gave up four runs and struck out two.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Spencer Arrighetti's major league debut for the Houston Astros hardly went as planned.
The Lacassine Cardinals claimed the district 6-B championship on Saturday by defeating the Bell City Bruins for the second time in a week by a final of 12-2. The Cards won the regular season meeting 14-7, but earned the 10-run rule win in the league tournament held at the Jennings Recreation Department. Lacassine used the superb pitching of Cobee Papillion and Ray Conner to hold the potent Bruin attack to just a pair of runs on four hits, while the Lacassine offense smoked out nine hits and took advantage of six Bell City errors. Papillion went 3.1 on the mound and allowed a pair of runs on two hits and struck out four. Ray Conner came out of the pen to go 1.1 and allowed no runs on just a pair of hits and fanned two.
LAKE ARTHUR — The Lake Arthur Lady Tiger softball team celebrated Senior Night when they hosted the parish rival Welsh Lady Greyhounds Friday. Lake Arthur led 5-1, but Welsh would tie the game 5 all. Lake Arthur would take a 13-5 lead, but Welsh would again rally to tie the game 13 all. Lake Arthur would take a 19-13 lead in the 6th inning and get the 19-14 win in the final district game for both teams.
