If you don’t go to church, you won’t understand this column. I grew up in the First Baptist Church of my small Alabama town. Since my father was one of the pillars of the church, we were there as a family every time the doors opened.

Shorter, cooler days bring brilliant foliage color changes for many trees and shrubs in fall. This time of year can be very beautiful as green leaves give way to brilliant colors of gold, orange, maroon, red and yellow.
