Start your morning with waffles

Belgian-Style Waffles 2 1/ 4 cups all- purpose flour 1/ 2 cup sugar 1 tablespoon baking powder 3/ 4 teaspoon salt 1 1/ 2 cups milk 1 cup butter, melted 3 large eggs, slightly beaten 1 tablespoon vanilla extract Combine flour, sugar baking powder and salt in bowl; mix well. Combine milk, melted butter, eggs and vanilla in another bowl; mix well. Stir wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Cook batter in Belgian waffle maker according to manufacturer’s directions. Serve warm with butter and maple syrup, or desired toppings.

Dear Doctors: I’ve been hearing a lot about PFAS and how they have an adverse effect on our health. I read that some food wrappers, like bags for microwave popcorn, use PFAS to keep food from sticking. My kids eat microwaved popcorn almost every night. Should I be worried?

During the Louisiana State Knights of Columbus (KC) Convention held in Lafayette in May, KC Council 2012 from Our Lady Help of Christians (OLHC) Parish in Jennings was recognized for earning the Award for the Best KC Family Program in the State of Louisiana for 2021-2022.
