Hydrangeas start their beautiful display in May in Louisiana and the rest of the southeastern United States. A longtime staple of home gardens, hydrangeas are some of the most gorgeous blooming shrubs for the South.

Eight Lacassine High School Family and Consumer Science students recently completed an industry-based credential for Servsafe Manager. The ServSafe Food Protection Manager course is modeled after the FDA Code guidelines and also includes basic principles of reducing liability through food handling techniques, safety systems, training and supervising employees. The students celebrated their achievement with a special lunch at school. Students who earned the certification included Ericka Vick, Zoe Waguespack, Trent Granger, Sofia Melville, Samantha Granger, Dasheun Pappion, Alec Comeaux and Ty Semar.

Dwayne Guidry, director of the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, was a recent guest speaker at the Jennings Rotary Club.
