Have you ever met the guy or gal that you just couldn’t beat? You know…the kind of person that always has to come out on top? If you’ve had it bad, they’ve had it worse. If you had it good, they had it better. If you got a good deal, they’ll tell you how you got snookered and begin to tell you the unbelievable deal they got on the very same item (“Man, you should have called me!”). If you caught a big fish, you should’ve seen theirs. If you’re knowledgeable in certain areas, they’re geniuses in all the others. If you ask for the time, they’ll tell you how to build a watch. It’s the kind of person who will not let you get a word in edgewise. They know the answers before the question is off your tongue.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV
Calendar Guidelines
For many people across the country, carving out time from busy schedules to spend with loved ones can be difficult.
Special moments and gatherings often revolve around food. With some simple (and tasty) adjustments, you can still savor every moment, including dessert, without overindulging.
Aging may be inevitable, but with advancement in research and technology, there are plenty of ways you can slow, or even reverse, the hands of time to stay healthy and promote longevity.
This tasty recipe features three of the top 10 spermidinerich foods: broccoli, mushrooms and aged cheese.
Do we always have to know why? Or what? Or how come? Why look for an answer to questions to which we know there are no answers? Cue in our friendly neighborly atheists. They know how to ask numerous questions in which there are no “logical” answers (in their mind). “If God is so good and loving why does God allow suffering? Why does God allow good people to die and bad people to live? Why God at all when religion in general has caused the deaths of countless millions through the centuries? For that matter, why did God create a universe that is out to kill us all with one big meteor whack?” (Granted, a fivemile rock would do us all in).
During the January meeting of James O. Hall Post 19 of the American Legion, Department of Louisiana, Commander Horace Naquin (right) presented a $100 donation from the Post to Vicky Rushing (left) of God’s Pantry in Jennings. Many individual Post members also made donations to this deserving operation. God’s Pantry provides food and other supplies (no clothing) to the needy of the Jennings Community. Submitted photo
