Especially during back-to-school season when schedules are jam-packed with activities, easy meals and desserts you can rely on allow you and your loved ones to ease tension in the kitchen.

For those of you who are not fashion-savvy, a skort is a cute word for a cute skirt that also has cute shorts underneath.

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY

Maverick Naquin of the Blazers Home School 4-H Club recently attended Marsh Maneuvers Camp. Marsh Maneuvers is a five-day camp for high school-age 4-H members that offers hands-on learning about Louisiana’s coast. Each attendee had to be nominated by their 4-H agents and then selected to attend the camp from a pool of applicants. Attendees participated in unique educational experiences, including taking a tour of the marsh in an airboat, helping restore wetlands by planting marsh grass, going crabbing and touring the Tabasco Factory and Jungle Gardens at Avery Island.

The Rotary Club of Welsh recently met at Red Cardinal Desserts and Cafe. The guest speaker, Sara Lafargue, is the owner of Mais La Boutique in Welsh. Sara is a resident of Kinder and a native of Welsh. She opened her boutique three months ago and enjoys being part of the Welsh community again. Sara has wanted to do something like this for a long time, especially coming back home to spend time with her family.

When one is born one does not imagine living 10,000 miles from one’s birth place. To return to his birthplace by way of Los Angeles, Fr. Jude Fernando will journey 11,000 miles. If he returns by way of London, he will journey 10,000 miles.
